ABOUT MINNEAPOLIS EDIBLE BOULEVARDS
We are an initiative devoted to dismantling food apartheid policies and creating self-sustainability in our Green Zone neighborhoods in North, Northeast and South Minneapolis. Over the last few years, we've partnered with Little Earth Farm, Growing North Minneapolis and their Step-Up youth, and Tamales y Bicicletas to teach people how to convert the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street into gardens. As neighbors learn how to grow their own food, they are able to share these skills with their communities, "pollinating" other neighborhood gardens.
Through this "shared fruit" vision, we grow fresh fruits and vegetables for ourselves while also sharing them with passersby. From apartment dwellers to those curious to tasting something new, boulevards are a space where neighbors can come together, and fruit is shared as a common practice.

MISSION, VISION, VALUES
Our mission here at Minneapolis Edible Boulevards is for community members to grow healthy and safe foods, especially in our Green Zone neighborhoods. With our neighbors, we are fixing a broken food system: neighborhood by neighborhood, block by block, and Edible Boulevard by Edible Boulevard.
HOW WE BEGAN
Begun in 2019 to provide resources to community members experiencing food apartheid policies, Minneapolis Edible Boulevards partners with the community to grow fresh produce. Growing fruit for ourselves and sharing it with those who don't have access to produce or land helps us create community; we ask participants to share the fruits of their gardening skills so that together we can create the healthy society we dream of having.
Do you want to help with gardens, take photos or video, add data, or work on projects throughout the year (community garden map, soil test map and Plant-Based Directory are just a few)? We'd love to have you join our Google Group for volunteers. There are a lot of different volunteer roles that we have, which you'll get emails about. Please go to https://groups.google.com/group/meb-volunteers/subscribe, and we'll add you! You can also join our Facebook group to see when volunteer opportunities arise. Either way, your involvement is greatly appreciated!
